Prince Corporation Expo 2019

A couple weekends ago my husband and I attended the 2019 Prince Corporation Expo in Wisconsin Dells, WI. We had a wonderful time getting to meet and talk to the reps of some of the companies we order product from and I wanted to share our experience with you!

We started that Saturday by getting registered for the Expo and then, since it didn’t start until a couple hours later, we visited a couple of the local attractions. I think my favorite place we went was New Life Lavender and Cherry Farm. The lavender fields were absolutely INCREDIBLE to see. They even had an area set up with swings and rock pathways to sit and relax. If you’re ever near the Dells, be sure to check them out and try their delicious lavender ice cream!

After visiting New Life Lavender, we continued our adventure back at the Expo where we got to talk to some of the vendors about their various product offerings. One vendor I was super excited to meet was Scratch & Peck because of their organic, soy-free chicken feed offering. We met with Selena who I immediately clicked with. She explained the difference between the Cluckin’ Good Grubs they offer and the typical dried mealworms from well-known farm stores. Taken from their website:

‘Cluckin’ Good Grubs are dried black soldier fly larvae, an environmentally friendly feed supplement or treat to be used in conjunction with our balanced animal feeds. They are grown in the Pacific Northwest, raised on traceable pre-consumer waste fruits, vegetables and grains that might otherwise go to a landfill. Cluckin’ Good Grubs are rich in protein, Omega-3 fatty acids, and are an excellent source of calcium.’

We ate dinner that evening at Mac’s Macaroni and Cheese Shop. I’m tellin’ ya’ll….. It was absolutely DELICIOUS!!! If we had one of these in the Northern Kentucky area, my husband and I would be broke and 100 pounds heavier.

The next morning (Sunday) we arrived at the Expo and began chatting with more vendors. We met with salespersons from Miller Manufacturing Company, Farm Innovators, Inc., K&H, C&S, Happy Hen Treats, Hippie Chicks, UniPet and American Wood Fibers. Renee from American Wood Fibers was super! She was so generous, giving us several samples for our display at the farmer’s market and bags of bedding from her booth. We also attended a talk on CBD oil – what it is, the benefits, and how to use it and sell it. Oh yeah… We also won an umbrella! Yay us!!! 🙂

The last day of the event (Monday) was an early morning, and those of you who know me at all know that I am NOT a morning person. But, alas, I dragged my sleepy self out of bed because, after all, there were cash prizes to be won starting at 9:30. Due to my husband and I being newbies at this whole expo thing, we were unaware of the opportunity to buy vendors’ booths at a reduced rate. Upon realizing the possibility of this, we promptly ran around to all the booths that offered chicken products for sale and offered to buy their booth. Unfortunately, all but one (Scratch and Peck) were sold already. The benefit to this? We got to buy all their products at half off of what our normal cost would be, plus they didn’t have to take it all back home with them. When we originally arrived, we decided we should’ve left our truck at home and taken our car, however, at this point we were thankful we brought the truck because Scratch and Peck’s booth alone took up almost the entire bed of the truck. Once we added in the Feeder from Panacea, the bedding from American Wood Fibers, and our luggage, we were filled to capacity.

Although we didn’t win anything (other than an umbrella!), we still went home feeling like we’d won the lottery after getting to buy a booth and meet a lot of amazing people. We even had several vendors who were curious to know more about our mission to bring awareness to raising backyard flocks and promoting high quality organic feeds, as well as assisting in the development of new poultry related products for their company. So, stay tuned for some fun product reviews and new product expansion coming soon!!
